The growing importance of the Ethernet technologies requires a detailed knowledge of the Ethernet protocol layers and especially the Ethernet management protocol (EFM and CFM).
This course focuses on the Ethernet management protocols. Because of the growing need of a precise time synchronisation between network
measurement devices, the Precision Time Protocol IEEE 1588 (Precision Clock Synchronization Protocol for Networked Measurement and Control Systems) is explained.
The participants know the Ethernet protocol functions, the protocol layers and their properties. They learn the EFM and CFM management functions and the Precision Time Protocol features.
